You can use Y!Caddy to add contacts/friends to your buddy list.
Add contact/friend
- From the menu at the top click on Actions and select Add a Buddy.
- In the window that pops up add there user name.
- Select a group from the pull-down list or type a new group name.
- Click Add.
Add contacts/friends from the chat room
- Right click on there user name and select Add To Buddy List.
- Select a group from the pull-down list or type a new group name.
- Click Add.
Add contacts/friends from IM/PM
- At the top of the IM/PM window click on the
 button.
- Select a group from the pull-down list or type a new group name.
- Click Add.
