Join a Chat Room

I AM SAD TO SAY YAHOO! CLOSED DOWN THERE PUBLIC CHAT ROOMS ON THE 14 DECEMBER 2012 WHICH MARKS THE END OF YAHOO! CHAT.

THERE HAS BEEN A UPROAR ABOUT THIS SO HERE A FEW FAQ's THAT SHOULD HELP BUT BEFORE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND PEOPLE THIS SITE IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH YAHOO! I AM A SIMPLE USER LIKE YOURSELF!

Why did Yahoo! Close Chat Rooms?

Well Yahoo response to this was is and i quote "we aspire to make the world’s daily habits inspiring and entertaining. More than ever, we’re focused on building products that are beautiful and meaningful for our users. Sometimes, this means we have to make tough decisions — like closing down features that we feel are not adding enough value for you. "

Not very helpful are they? So let me translate it for everyone... Yahoo! was not making any money from chat there advertisements which use to make them a great deal of money in the past has stopped due to ad remover programs and 3rd party chat clients which meant no one was seeing any of there advertisements.. this combined with the fact they are to lazy to to fix issues such as bots etc that was basically taking over chat so the easiest thing for them to do was to simply close chat down.

Will Yahoo! ever reopen chat rooms?

I doubt this very much but if they do you can bet they wont be the same as they was they will be moderated chat rooms and most likely they will charge for features... but as i said i doubt very much they will bring back chat.

So what do i do now?

You find yourself a new chat program but i yet to come across one which is like Yahoo! most used Yahoo! chat cause it was unmoderated and it had static rooms which was always open... All other chat programs are moderated and rooms are only open when the user who created the rooms open them and most charge for extra features but here list of some alternative clients anyway.

PalTalk - Welcome to the largest online video chat room community. Explore thousands of video chat rooms and meet millions of friendly members.

My thoughts on PalTalk - The biggest chat program out there with lots of rooms and users it is free however if you wish to view cams and remove the adverts you will have to pay.

FireTalkNew - is the newest chat on the internet. Unlike many other chats we do not use spyware or tracking cookies so your privacy is assured. Firetalknew is a chat program in which you may create and open your own rooms to play songs, videos or simply talk amongst yourselves and friends. It may be used for anything that you might think of.

my thoughts on FireTalknew - This is newish chat software it doesn't have many users at the moment or rooms but it does not charge you to view cams and it has no adverts and better still has better quality voice than PalTalk.

Beyluxe Messenger - Beyluxe is a free popular Internet voice and video Chat program used by millions of people, and thousands of organizations, to communicate, share, play and work with each other on the internet around the world.

My thoughts on Beyluxe - This Chat client seems to be very poplar in middle east with over 10000 users from there and has little users from UK or US but is still a good chat program.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF COMMENTS BEING POSTED I HAVE DISABLED THEM ON THIS PAGE.
